A comparison of the effectiveness of QuEChERS, FaPEx and a modified QuEChERS method on the determination of organochlorine pesticides in ginseng

This study provides a review of methods used in the determination organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) ginseng and compares effectiveness three extraction (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, Safe (QuEChERS), modified QuEChERS Fast Pesticide Extraction (FaPEx)) analyses 20 OCPs root samples. For each method, sample mass, solvent volume sorbent mass were varied to identify optimum combination effectively isolate analytes interest from complex matrix. Extracts analyzed using gas chromatography-?-electron capture detector (GC-?-ECD), confirmatory performed by chromatography-tandem-mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Eighteen out spiked onto in-house prepared samples produced acceptable recoveries (51–156%) when extracted FaPEx. All analytes, including dichlorodiphenyldichloroethane (p, p’- DDD) dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (o, p’-DDT), (51–129%) with use method.
